Bedford Park

Welcome to Bedford Park

A breathtaking suburb that’s great for families.

This remarkable suburb north of Downtown Toronto is well known for its breathtaking streets and tranquil atmosphere. It’s full of contemporary amenities and is close to top-notch schools, drawing many families to the community. It’s also a convenient commute from the thriving city centre, making it easy to get to the office or an exciting cultural event.

Early on, Bedford Park was a small village where farmers would stop on their way into the markets in the city. When it began to be developed, it was thought to be a comfortable middle-class dwelling. However, it continued to blossom as the areas surrounding it were developed until it became the remarkable, upscale neighbourhood it is today.

Bedford Park has a variety of semi-detached and single-family homes that date back to the early 20th century. They’ve been well maintained, and there are a variety of styles, including Victorian and Edwardian. The area has also seen new constructions, bringing a more contemporary style to the neighbourhood.

It’s close to shopping centres and the culture of Toronto while also enjoying gorgeous views every time they step out the front door. This is a family-friendly neighbourhood with good schools and plenty of places for playdates and kid-friendly adventures.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Bathurst Street and Yonge Street are home to many great eateries and shops in the area. Drive down either road, and you’ll find shopping centres, fine dining, and a quick stop at a local bakery.

Try kosher and vegetarian Mediterranean fare at local favorite, Tov-li. Nearby, Il Fornaro serves traditional Italian dishes in a rustic fine dining experience. La Diperie is a quaint spot for ice cream, and T-Buds serves traditional high tea as well as selling afternoon tea boxes for patrons to take with them.

Lawrence Plaza was Toronto’s first suburban shopping centre, and shoppers can find everything from the latest fashions to wonderful home goods at stores like Winners. Further west, Yorkdale Mall houses 250 shops and services, luxury brands, and department stores. This is the place you want to go for a day of browsing and retail therapy. Getting ingredients for your dinner has never been easier or more local than it is at Metro.

Things to Do

In a neighbourhood as beautiful as Bedford Park, you’ll want to spend as much time outside as you can. Luckily, the area offers plenty of parks and outdoor adventures to help make that happen.

There are small pockets of greenspace ready to offer a respite all through Bedford Park. Woburn Park is a popular spot for those with young children, thanks to its wading pool and playground. Prince Charles Park has a wonderful playground nestled among its lush foliage, and Bedford Parkette is a small swath of green waiting for picnics and playdates.

Depending on the time of year, Ledbury Park will have something seasonally appropriate. Summer months find locals splashing in their outdoor swimming pool, and during the winter, it changes to a charming ice rink. Ready to welcome you for an afternoon on the fairway is Rosedale Golf Club, one of the oldest and finest golf institutions in the Toronto area.

Schools

Bedford Park is part of the Toronto District School Board, and it also has exemplary higher education opportunities close at hand.
